I found prosthetics and orthotics because I wanted to be an engineer that worked directly with patients. I grew up loving math and science and decided early on that I should become an engineer. During my bachelor’s education at the University of lowa, I solidified my love of physics and problem-solving while being concerned with the lack of continued connection to the individuals I was helping. I was determined to find a career that required a knowledge of math and science to remove barriers for other people, while also getting to interact with them and see the improvements.
I continued on to Northwestern University to earn a Master’s in Prosthetics and Orthotics and completed my prosthetics residency at the Veteran’s Administration in Minneapolis. I was very fortunate to be able to return to my hometown to continue my career, joining Limb Lab for my orthotics residency and then being kept on as a certified clinician. I’m excited to pair my engineering background with Limb Lab’s desire to innovate within the field of O & P and continue to embrace the new technology when it can benefit our patients.
