Lower Limb Orthotics
What is a lowerlimb orthosis?
A lower limb orthosis is a medical brace that supports, aligns, or improves the function of legs, knees, ankles, or feet.
They can be off-the-shelf or custom fitted to your anatomy.
You may be a fit if…
Maintain safe, steady walking, reduce trips and falls, protect the ankle, promote proper knee movement minimizing injury risk, and (post surgery) relieve pain and pressure for faster healing.
-
Your ankle or knee was recently injured.
-
You are recovering from ACL or other knee surgery.
-
Your range of motion is limited, or you have a hard time walking or balancing.
-
Movement is painful or uncomfortable, or your muscles are weak or unstable.
-
Your diabetes or other conditions cause any chronic, non-healing wound.
-
Yes, many insurance plans provide coverage, but it varies by plan and by state. We work with all major insurers. Contact us to learn more about your options.
-
Each device has a different wearing schedule, which can vary depending on your individual condition. Some orthoses are made to be worn all day and removed only to bathe; others are made to be worn only at night; still others are worn only while doing a certain activity. Your orthotist will help you develop the right schedule for your health, comfort, and confidence.
-
As long as you follow all activity restrictions placed by your medical doctor, you can absolutely wear your orthosis while completing all daily activities except for showering.
