My high school shop teacher introduced me to prosthetics and orthotics. I loved building just about anything, from furniture to cabinets to houses. I went on to complete my undergraduate studies at Doane College, where I volunteered and became a technician for a prosthetic company in Lincoln. I was sold right then and there. I loved fabricating, fitting, and meeting everyone who came into the office.
I returned to Lincoln in 2005 and began managing, creating, and building relationships in the Lincoln area. Few things make me feel better – or more proud – than creating devices that affect people in the direct and personal ways that my work does.
My wife Amanda and I have been in the Lincoln community for the last 15 years. Our two daughters have grown up here, and we all love this community along with the life we have built here. I am excited to join such a client-centered practice and to bring such a state-of-the-art and specialized facility to Lincoln.
Vincent Lau is a Certified and Licensed Prosthetist Orthotist and the Market President at Limb Lab in Omaha, Nebraska. He specializes in upper limb prosthetics, including myoelectric systems and partial hand and partial finger prostheses, and he fits microprocessor knees and the C-Brace stance-control orthosis for lower limb patients, along with pediatric prosthetics and orthotics.
Vince came to the field as an engineer, inspired to design prosthetic components after watching a TV show of a clinician building a prosthesis. At the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) he shadowed at a local clinic and saw a young man stand on his prosthesis for the first time, walk again, and smile. Vince redirected toward patient care but never stopped designing.
Both instincts show up in how he practices. Patients often travel hours to reach him, some for upper limb prostheses, others from rural Nebraska and western Iowa. And since conventional Symes prostheses allow almost no ankle motion, Vince designed the Dynamic Strut Symes Prosthesis, which displayed 12 degrees of motion in its first case study and was presented at the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association.
Vince earned his Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and completed his residencies in Kansas City. He lectures in the physical therapy and occupational therapy programs at Creighton University, the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and Methodist College; teaches biomechanics students at UNO; and built prosthetics and orthotics curriculum for the College of Saint Mary Physical Therapy Program.
As Nebraska state co-lead of So Every BODY Can Move, Vince worked with State Senator John Cavanaugh to introduce bills that would require insurance coverage for prostheses and orthoses used in physical activity, as presented on the American Physical Therapy Association podcast.
A first-generation American born and raised in Omaha, he returned home to practice. He and his wife are raising their kids in the city where they both grew up.
“Prosthetics and orthotics is all in the family for me: I am a third-generation prosthetist by trade. Born and raised in Omaha, my grandfather and uncle were both Prosthetists, and my dad a Pedorthist. I grew up in the industry and apprenticed from a young age where I learned the intricacies of orthotic and prosthetic fabrication and design. I became a Board of Certification Prosthetist in 2007 where I continued my passion for quality in craftsmanship and attention to detail, and built my reputation for technical excellence in fabrication, clinical care, and product delivery.
My family knows me as someone who can talk to anyone, and I am energized by meeting new people and creating relationships with the team of multidisciplinary healthcare clinicians that take care of those individuals who need prosthetic and orthotic services. I enjoy the collaborative environment of the Limb Lab team and Limb Lab’s innovative, client-centered approach for those with limb loss and injury.”

Macy earned her Master of Orthotics and Prosthetics from Baylor College of Medicine and her Bachelor of Science from Creighton University. Her residency spanned several clinics, including Limb Lab in Lincoln, Nebraska, exposing her to a wide range of patient populations and practice styles. She is a guest lecturer for the physical therapy program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
She first encountered orthotics and prosthetics through a college friend with a below-knee prosthesis, then shadowed weekly in the orthotics and prosthetics department at the Omaha VA Hospital while finishing her degree. A lifelong Omaha resident, Macy is glad to practice in the city she and her husband call home.
