My high school shop teacher introduced me to prosthetics and orthotics. I loved building just about anything, from furniture to cabinets to houses. I went on to complete my undergraduate studies at Doane College, where I volunteered and became a technician for a prosthetic company in Lincoln. I was sold right then and there. I loved fabricating, fitting, and meeting everyone who came into the office.

I returned to Lincoln in 2005 and began managing, creating, and building relationships in the Lincoln area. Few things make me feel better – or more proud – than creating devices that affect people in the direct and personal ways that my work does.

My wife Amanda and I have been in the Lincoln community for the last 15 years. Our two daughters have grown up here, and we all love this community along with the life we have built here. I am excited to join such a client-centered practice and to bring such a state-of-the-art and specialized facility to Lincoln.

Helping people return to the lives they want to live drives me every day. 

For more than 20 years, I’ve worked with patients of all ages and abilities, building strong relationships and taking a collaborative approach to help them reach their personal goals. I specialize in activity-driven prostheses that support a return to work, play, and independence. From getting dressed to running with the bulls, no goal is too small or too bold. 

My experience includes myoelectrics, microprocessors, adjustable sockets, upper and lower extremity care, and pediatric orthotics, including cranial remolding orthoses and ambulatory devices. As a mother of three, I understand how important timely, coordinated care is for families. 

Educated at St. Ambrose University and Northwestern University, I’ve proudly served the Quad Cities and Greater Iowa community throughout my career. What drew me to Limb Lab was artistry, combining creativity and clinical expertise to create devices people feel truly feel confident wearing. My goal is simple: that every person feels heard, valued, and empowered to achieve what’s possible. 

My first experience in the orthotics and prosthetics (O&P) field started in middle school when I wore a TLSO for scoliosis. In true teenage fashion, I had some “difficult” moments with this, but it did allow me to learn more about the field. I was able to experience directly how dedicated clinicians can improve a person’s quality of life in dramatic ways. I like to joke that after I stopped wearing my brace, I wanted nothing to do with it again. Of course, sometimes our plans don’t work out as we anticipate they will. In this case, I’m delighted they didn’t, as l’m passionate about helping people as I was helped years ago.

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of lowa in biomedical engineering and trained thereafter in O&P at Century College/Concordia University in Minnesota. I love this field because every person has a story to tell, and I get to spend each day discovering these. In both the good and bad, it is an honor to hear and hopefully even be a small part of someone’s story.

I love that Limb Lab offers an innovative approach by embracing new technology, collaborating with colleagues, and listening to clients to determine what the best possible outcome is for each individual person. My hope as a clinician is to always listen, to stand ready to support in good and hard times, and to put in the extra mile for every person I work with.

My high school experience shadowing a CPO introduced me to the field of Orthotics and Prosthetics. I was amazed by the impact that even one simple device can have on an individual’s mobility and quality of life.

I went on to study Biomedical Engineering at the University of Iowa, then completed my Masters in Orthotics and Prosthetics at the Baylor College of Medicine. Growing up in Eaton, Colorado, gave me a deep appreciation for hardworking, tight-knit communities, and that same spirit is something I bring to every patient interaction.

After completing my residency, I officially joined Limb Lab in January 2025 and could not ask for a better environment to grow in. Innovation, teamwork, and patient-centered care are the highest priority here. I am dedicated to providing personalized, quality orthotic and prosthetic care for every patient, ensuring that you return to the activities and life that you want.

Anna Kahler is a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist at Limb Lab in Iowa City.  

With a special interest in pediatric prosthetics and orthotics, Anna treats a diverse range of patients, including those with limb loss, cranial deformities in infants, musculoskeletal weaknesses, and gait challenges. She has experience with advanced prosthetic technologies, including microprocessor knees, myoelectric upper extremity systems, and custom orthotic solutions, including the Talee Cranial Remolding orthoses. Some advanced systems Anna has worked with are Blachford Orion and KX07, Ottobock C-Leg and Genium X4, Ossur Rheo, and Ottobock MyoPlus. 

With an interest in developing prosthetic solutions, Anna co-authored Development and Usability of an Adjustable Prosthesis for Aquatic Therapy. 

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Michigan State University and a Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics from Northwestern University. She is passionate about combining science, creativity, and artistry in patient care. Originally from Dansville, Michigan, Anna enjoys sourdough baking, running, and sewing. 

My introduction to this career started at a running specialty store when I was in college. I learned what shoes are best for different needs and what elements to look for when choosing a new pair. After graduating, I landed a position as a Sock Manager in my hometown of Rochester, MN. I was continuously learning valuable information and meeting new people with unique needs. I felt the most fulfilled when I worked with a customer to find a solution that truly worked for them and their lifestyle. This experience made me realize that I want to help people on a greater scale. After shadowing another Limb Lab Pedorthist, it became clear that this is my calling. When I found out Iowa City was hiring, I applied right away and could not be more happy with my decision. I love what I do and I look forward to working with you to find what you need to be comfortable and supported!

I’m Linda Collins. I have 2 grown children and four beautiful grandchildren. Travel, beaches and reading are a few of my favorite things (all three together is preferable)! I have been in health care for over 25 years with direct patient care. I love every minute of it! Over the past few years, I have transitioned into more clerical roles.

When I first heard about LimbLab, I was amazed. The way we help people live their best life is truly inspiring. That may sound cliché, but it’s so true. I have seen people getting back their mobility, their independence, and that special “spunk” we have when we are able to do the things we love. What better place could I have chosen to “work”?

 Throughout my years in the field of medicine, I have established a unique skillset that enables me to think outside of the box in finding solutions that best fit each patient’s needs. As your medical coordinator, I will handle all of your scheduling needs and any questions you may have, from insurance inquiries to the production process, I am happy to take on the responsibility while allowing you to focus on YOUR strength. It’s inspiring to work with such amazing clients, alongside a team filled with individuals all set on the common goal of giving our patients the best experience possible each and every time they come in. Maria Svoboda is a Medical Coordinator at Limb Lab Iowa City. She helps patients advocate for themselves to ensure coverage for the care and resources needed to improve their daily lives. She is especially inspired by working with pediatric patients and watching them as they gain mobility. 

Maria grew up in Iowa and enjoys spending time outdoors, driving with the windows down, and being with her many siblings.

Chris Nelson is a Medical Coordinator at Limb Lab Iowa City – North Liberty. She ensures that each patient interaction is organized, efficient, and supportive, allowing clinicians to focus on delivering exceptional care. 

Chris has a passion for creating a positive atmosphere in stressful times. She especially loves working with pediatric patients and takes pride in helping them feel comfortable during appointments. 

Chris enjoys life at home surrounded by family and a crew of animals, including dogs, cats, chickens, a lizard, and fish.
